What does demo mode do?
It’s supposed to grab your attention in the radio shop, telling you why this is the radio you should buy. But in your car it’s horribly annoying.

Did you ever find the problem
Yes I did. It turned out that the vacuum pump had been sucking in water for a while and the electronics in it was acting up causing a variety of oddball symptoms. I took it out. Everything was good. Except the things depending on vacuum.

Usually you are able to see tiny movements on the rev counter when this engine won't start and crankshaft position sensor is ok. Can't really see it moving here, so it might be a faulty crank sensor, but honestly no one could tell from this video, you need to hook star diagnostics up to it and do a faultreading. It could be a ton of other stuff, stretched timing chain etc, wouldve rattled for a bit prior to this though since it has to be quite out of sync to reach this point. Also it could be as simple as fuel distribution failure, etc. It's not to tell from this video alone ;)

Is it possible to make this unit show the name of the radio station and the clock in the display at the same time? I think it's inconvenient having to press the "view"-button to see the time, and then pressing it numerous times again to see which station you are listening to. And is it possible to change the clock mode to 24h? I am still unable to do this on my Alpine UTE-93DAB...

I'm surprised to see that this old fashion and poorly designed unit is still being sold at all. I bought it because it was the only unit I could find that was supposed to have an auto clock adjust function. I was utterly disappointed when I found out that the auto clock adjust was based only on the FM time signal and not on DAB...

david caceres ritter-instruments.com/ used to sell them directly. But I couldn’t find them on the website now, perhaps they’re only sold through dealers or perhaps discontinued- I don’t know. This was a long time ago. In any case I would now recommend Kalium strings. Custom made and excellent quality. I have those on my Conklin 9-string.
What does this do? I want the radio to switch off once the key is out
David Fll you’ll need to connect the red wire to the ignition, that ought to do it.

May be a bit of a long shot but does anyone know of any good/decent/wont fall apart after purchase 7 string bass' that wont destroy my wallet?
XpOZeIBeAsTx Depends on your wallet of course, but the Conklin Groove Tools GT-7 is great value. I won't recommend any of the cheaper stuff, you never know what you get with those.
Picked myself up a Harley Benton 7 string from Thomann, £280 and actually beast other than the strings that come on it, but it's solid other than that.

what are your pickups?
Hi Shane, Those pickups are hand wound by Christoph Dolf at bassculture.de/ - he'll wind basically anything, I think, and he's very skilled. Since my 7-string was made, Listerud has used his pickups in many instruments. Great sounding pickups indeed.

Those are Ritter Swordsteel strings. The high F is a wound .022 if I remember correctly.

It's actually 17mm. Anything less would have been too narrow for me.
This is just the way it is. We musicians will always have something to point our finger at. You could always slow down the video but that's just a faint hint at solving a problem that doesnt' really exist ;)

Yes, must be so. I will remove it and see if I can either repair it or replace it, hopefully that will mend things.
The problem is either the wiring harness or the instrument cluster is bad.

I do believe he is proficient in the English language, the old website was bilingual and he has sold a few instruments abroad I believe. Shoot him an e-mail and you're likely to be well treated. I would heartily recommend a Listerud bass indeed. I know that since mine was built he has aquired a CNC machine which allows for more intricate inlays and stuff. I regret selling mine, I'd love to get it back somehow. If the current owner reads this, contact me! :-)
Hello NapalmHipster, I have a very positive impression of Listerud, certainly the bass I had was very nice. Listerud is a very open and cooperative person; this was his first 7-string build, at my request. Also it was the first with BassCulture pickups (also at my request), which are excellent and I have since seen used on many more of his builds.
